ESA Product Control

Given the complexity of satellite missions ESA has developed a quality control strategy, which involves the monitoring of particular elements of the mission which are considered critical to the process of quality control.

These elements are platform/instrument operations, ground station acquisition performance, raw data availability, ground station processing performance, instrument ageing monitoring, quality of the delivered data products, compliance to specifications of the delivered products, systems upgrades and configuration controls, users concerns and reporting. The quality control strategy is formally known as the Product Control Strategy (PCS) and is part of the central facility at ESRIN.
